With two points of difference, Real Madrid and Barcelona will retake the pulse for the title of League once the championship resumes – expected in mid-June– with 11 days ahead. We review what are the confrontations that have to play for whites and azulgranas before closing the 2019/2020 season in the Santander League.
The Real Madrid gave up the lead on the last day contested (27) before the stop due to the coronavirus. Those of Zinedine Zidane all three points were left at Benito Villamarín, so Barcelona went ahead with two points thanks to their victory against Real Sociedad. Now, the Madrid team will try to retake the lead in the next 11 days they have ahead, with six games at home – at Alfredo Di Stefano – and five as visitors, while Barca will have five games at Camp Nou and six away.
On paper, the most complicated duels that Real Madrid has ahead are the visits to Anoeta and San Mamés, on matchdays 30 and 34, respectively, in addition to the home game against Valencia on matchday 29. No less difficult will be for Barcelona, who have yet to receive at home the Atlético de Madrid and Athletic Club on days 31 and 33, respectively, in addition to the visit to Sánchez Pizjuán, from the 30th. Both Zidane’s and Quique Setien’s will play the last day away from home.
