What are the 3 places to see first in New York?

Are you going to New York for the first time and don’t know where to start to get the best impression of the city? The results of this survey will interest you! ???? Last week, I asked members of the groupe Facebook Destination New York indicate the place that they think should be visited first in New York. Here are the results ! And, from my New York experience, I can tell you that I am totally in line with these results. ????

1/ Times Square

With its neon lights and giant advertisements, Times Square is THE place where you can really say to yourself “here I am in New York”. And so, it is only logical that Times Square comes at the top of this poll with 49% of the votes!

  • My advice : Once you’ve arrived in New York City and dropped off at the hotel, head to Times Square for your first New York night out. In addition, the neon lights and the hectic activity of Times Square will allow you to effectively fight against travel fatigue and jet lag. ????

2 / The Statue of Liberty

In second position, with 16% of the vote, the emblem of New York and of a whole country: the Statue of Liberty. There too, once at the foot of Miss Liberty, you will not be able to prevent yourself from saying to yourself “I am there!” “. I can assure you that it is something very special to be at the foot of this so symbolic statue that we see everywhere and all the time!

  • My advice : schedule your visit to the Statue of Liberty the day after your arrival in New York. As the jet lag will get you up early, you might as well take the opportunity to go to the southern tip of Manhattan to take the ferry! Arriving early will avoid the endless midday queues and you can also request a voucher that will take you to the top of the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. This coupon is available at no extra charge and you just have to ask for it: it is distributed on a “first come, first served” basis.

3 / The Brooklyn Bridge

On the 3rd place of the podium, with around 10% of the vote, we find another great symbolic place of New York in particular and of America in general: the Brooklyn Bridge. There too, what a great feeling to cross this bridge while enjoying a breathtaking view of the New York skyline: here is the Financial District, with the One World Trade Center tower, but also Midtown, with the Empire State building and the Chrysler building. In the distance, you will also see the Statue of Liberty. A magical walk!

  • My advice : schedule the Brooklyn Bridge crossing on the 2nd day of your trip, just to take advantage of the effects of jet lag. The idea is indeed to be able to arrive early on the bridge to enjoy the sun that illuminates the skyline in the morning. Another thing to know: absolutely make the crossing in the Brooklyn-Manhattan direction because the view is much more impressive than in the other direction. But nothing prevents you from crossing the bridge on the way there and back! I also recommend a night crossing: the bridge being poorly lit, it’s a whole different atmosphere.
