Washington DC –
President of the United States (US) Joe Biden warned Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in Khorasan who orchestrated the suicide bombing at Kabul Airport, Afghanistan. Biden said the US would continue to retaliate and fight terrorism.
“We will maintain the fight against terrorism in Afghanistan and other countries,” Biden said.
“And for ISIS-K: We’re not done with you,” he said, using another acronym for the Afghanistan branch of the Islamic State jihadist group.
In addition, Biden also explained that the options for the US to withdraw its troops or conflict escalated. He made it clear that he would not prolong the war in Afghanistan.
“That’s the choice: either go or escalate. I’m not going to prolong this war forever, and I’m not extending a way out forever,” Biden said.
Biden also defended his decision to pull the team out of Afghanistan. He said the withdrawal was in the US national interest.
“We no longer have a clear goal in the open mission in Afghanistan,” he said a day after the latest withdrawal.
“It was the right decision. A wise decision. And the best decision for America,” he said.
A suicide bombing orchestrated by ISIS-Khorasan killed 13 U.S. soldiers and 169 civilians Afghanistan. The suicide bombing took place amid a crowd gathered at the gates of Kabul airport on Thursday (26/8) night.
