The warmest winter of the last 25 years is expected to be this year according to ERT meteorologist, Panagiotis Giannopoulos. The figures from the EMY stations in Athens and Thessaloniki are impressive.

While the average maximum winter temperature for the Athena is 14.2 degrees Celsius and for her Thessaloniki 10.4 degrees Celsius, this year the average temperature will be 16.7 degrees Celsius for Athens and 13.8 degrees Celsius for Thessaloniki. That is, 2.5 degrees above for Athens and 3.4 degrees Celsius above for Thessaloniki.

For both cities, these are the warmest winters since 2000, but most likely in previous decades as well. The second warmest winter was last year.

The weather today – Rain and high temperatures

The weather will be unstable today with rains and local storms in the region of the Peloponnese and the central and southern Ionian Sea according to the forecast of the meteorologist, Clearchos Marousakis. The winds are strong and the mercury at 15-17 degrees Celsius.

In Attica until noon, the clouds will alternate with sunshine, but in the evening in the west and south it will rain. The temperature up to 16 degrees. Unsettled weather in Thessaloniki, mainly in the south and the mercury at 15 degrees.

The rains will persist in the south of the country tomorrow Thursday 22/2. On Friday, these phenomena will be focused on the western and eastern Aegean.
