According to the preliminary evaluation of the measuring stations of the German Weather Service (DWD), the average temperature in the spring months of March, April and May was 10.4 degrees and thus 2.0 degrees above the comparable period. In addition, it was an extremely sunny spring with almost 745 hours of sunshine. This corresponded to approximately 160 percent of the target value. This made the Saarland the warmest and second-sunniest state in all of Germany.

Although it rained in the Saarland in spring 2020 as much as anywhere else in Germany, it still remained too dry. Thus, in the spring months, a good 165 liters of precipitation per square meter fell – the target value is actually 222 liters per square meter. Overall, the Saarland was only about 74 percent of the target value, but at least a good bit above the national values ​​of 57 percent of the usual amount of precipitation.

According to DWD meteorologists, spring is coming to an end in the Saarland without precipitation. At Pentecost weekend, the DWD predicts the weather will be dry and mostly friendly.

On Saturday, the DWD peaks will rise to 20 and 24 degrees. On Pentecost Sunday, thicker clouds appear from the east, but it remains dry. The maximum values ​​are between 19 and 24 degrees. With a few cumulus clouds, Whit Monday is also sunny and a little warmer: up to 23 degrees in the mountains, up to 26 degrees in lower altitudes.
