Wearing a mask is compulsory in 8 municipalities in the agglomeration

Wearing a mask will be compulsory in 8 urban municipalities in the Dijon metropolitan area. The measure was announced by the prefecture, the ARS and Dijon Métropole during a press conference this Thursday, September 3. The measure is applicable from Saturday September 5.

Wearing a mask is now compulsory in 8 municipalities in the agglomeration of Dijon from Saturday. This is the decision taken in a prefectural decree taken this Thursday, September 9. These are the urban municipalities that were selected:

  • Dijon
  • Chenôve
  • Longvic
  • Talent
  • Quétigny
  • Fontaine-les-Dijon
  • Saint-Apollinaire
  • Ahuy (ZAC des Grandes Varennes)

The decree is valid for a period of one month, with the exception of the night (midnight to 8 am). A dozen parks or gardens in the city should escape the obligation to wear a mask everywhere.

There, there is alert. Everyone needs to be aware of this, underlines François Rebsamen, the president of Dijon metropolis. The alert was sounded because the incidence rate has multiplied much faster than the number of tests. We have to come back below the alert threshold. I want everyone to realize the importance of mobilizing while not stopping the economy. ”

Fixed at 50 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the alert threshold has been crossed for nearly a week in the agglomeration of Dijon.

A deteriorating health situation

The region is no exception to the national trend. In Côte d’Or, the incidence rate (number of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants over 7 days) increased sharply to reach 73 per 100,000 on Wednesday 2 September. This situation is particularly marked in the Dijon metropolitan area where this incidence rate exceeds 100 per 100,000 inhabitants. “This incidence rate has multiplied by 10 in one month” underlines the Regional Health Agency.

If part of the increase is due to the multiplication of the number of tests (1,300 per day in Côte d’Or), it is also linked to the increase in the number of positive cases. The latter went from 1 to 3.5% in Côte d’Or. “We are in a situation of diffuse global circulation of the virus” explains Pierre Pribille, the director general of the ARS.

Currently, the average age of people who test positive is 35 “It’s a young population. This explains why there is no impact for the moment on hospitalizations, details Pierre Pribille. But the more the virus circulates, the greater the probability that the chains of contamination will end up affecting a person at risk! “

Indicators in the red

Last Friday, the Regional Health Agency already alerted to alarming indicators in the department, especially in the Dijon agglomeration.
