Lauterbach wants to stick to the obligation to isolate
Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach is convinced that Germany will be well prepared for a new corona wave in autumn. That’s what the SPD politician said on the eve of the federal and state health ministers’ conference in the ARD talk “Maischberger”.

In view of the current corona summer wave and fears of a further increase in the number of infections in autumn, Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD) rejects lifting the obligation to isolate. “It wouldn’t be right to shoot it,” said Lauterbach on Tuesday evening in the ARD talk “Maischberger”.

Lauterbach also did not rule out the reintroduction of the mask requirement indoors in autumn, but he emphasized: “We need a much more comprehensive concept.” He did not want to attach this to masks alone. In principle, he advises wearing a mask voluntarily.
At the federal and state health ministers’ conference, Lauterbach will present a corona autumn strategy on Wednesday. The paper, which is exclusively available to the editorial network Germany (RND), provides seven points to cope with the expected increase in the number of infections in autumn. According to the plans, there should no longer be free quick tests for everyone.

With a view to the revision of the Infection Protection Act, Lauterbach said the negotiations would be “much less dramatic than some are now imagining”. He is convinced: “We will be well prepared for the fall.”
