We report from New York, Rio, Tokyo – and from your homeland! #day topics in the middle

What is ARD for you? Do you think of the station “Das Erste” first? It is the same for many people, and you can quickly find it at number one on the remote control. The ARD offers a lot more, z. B. nine ARD stations at your location: NDR, MDR, rbb, BR, SWR, SR, HR, Radio Bremen and WDR. The broadcasters work for people who are your neighbors, who live in your town or town. They report lifelike, surprising, and encouraging discourse. We want to show more of that, including in our nationwide news programs. In addition to major world politics and politics in Berlin, you should be in the spotlight. That is our promise with the new column “Tagesthemen mittendrin” – from now on every Friday in the Tagesthemen from 9:45 p.m. as well as with individual stories and portraits on tagesschau.de and the Tagesschau and Tagesthemen profiles on Instagram, Twitter and Youtube.

Our goal is for us to get to know Germany better together, to understand and respect each other with all our strengths and weaknesses. This is a contribution to strengthening our society.

We invite you on this tour of Germany! At the first edition of “Tagesthemen mittendrin”, more than two million viewers will get to know the 1,000-inhabitant town of Bollstedt in Thuringia. Our MDR reporter Nadja Storz introduces us to this place, which was awarded at a European competition – a very special village! You didn’t know Bollstedt yet? We’re not surprised, because we want to keep bringing you closer to places and regions that otherwise don’t appear all the time in the big news programs. We want to portray all regions of Germany and tell their stories.

“Tagesthemen mittendrin” is not a one-time, quick action, but a long-term promise to you, our viewers. We even got more airtime for this: on Fridays, the daily topics are now twice as long. No longer a short broadcast, but 30 minutes, and earlier than on any other day: on Fridays you can see us from 9:45 p.m.

With “Tagesthemen mittendrin” we are raising the ARD’s treasure and making it visible to everyone: the regional competence of our strong broadcasting community. Everyone on ARD is behind this regional offensive. Here the ARD is one. The next time you think of ARD, you have our reporters in mind, who live from Starnberg to Stralsund and report there on your and our homeland.
