“Since Wednesday (26/1/2022) yesterday, the Commission has decided to continue the results of our research into the realm of law enforcement,” KPPU’s Head of Public Relations and Cooperation Bureau Deswin Nur told Kompas.com, Friday (28/1/2022).

“Especially in identifying various behaviors that may violate (or alleged articles that may be violated), and various candidates reported in the matter,” he continued.

In addition, KPPU also revealed that there is a threat of fines for parties who are proven to have monopolized practices or unfair business competition.

“In the Job Creation Law which amends Law No. 5 and PP No. 44 of 2021, the fine for violating business competition is a maximum of 50 percent of the profit or net profit obtained by business actors in the relevant market,” Deswin said.

“Or a maximum of 10 percent of total sales in the relevant market, during the period of violation of the law,” he continued.

Previously reported, the scarcity of cooking oil occurred in a number of areas. In Makassar, for example, a housewife, Rukiah, admitted that she had difficulty getting cooking oil of Rp. 14,000 per liter.

“It’s very difficult to get cooking oil. Even if there is, the price of cooking oil is still expensive. For packaged cooking oil, it costs more than IDR 20,000. Meanwhile, the price of bulk cooking oil is IDR 18,000 per liter,” said Rukiah who was met, Friday ( 28/1/2022).

Rukiah revealed that the price of cooking oil was still high because shops sold it at a higher price. As a result, cooking oil traders do not want to sell their goods at a loss.

Rukiah hopes that the government will soon solve the problem scarcity of cooking oil Rp. 14,000 per liter and a very drastic price increase in the market.
