Let’s try to understand better. As far as it emerges, the bank in question is bank n26. It is a bank exclusively online which was becoming more and more popular in our country. Therefore a successful bank also thanks to the very low commissions charged affordable. But how did it happen that the accounts of various account holders were blocked? According to the first reconstructions, everything started in March when bank n26 was contacted by Bhip of Italy which found shortcomings in its anti-money laundering procedures.

The bank operated in compliance with the law

So already in the month of March, the Bank of Italy noted a lack of compliance with the procedures that oppose the laundering of dirty money by Banca n26. Banca n26 defended itself by supporting its reasons but has now closed some accounts. According to some journalistic reconstructions, it could be that bank n26 has operated with a certain excess of zeal even towards absolutely normal accounts to avoid other reports by the bank of Italy.

Can it happen to other banks?

But these are only the first reconstructions and at the moment it is not clear what actually happened. In one of its press releases, bank n26 underlined that it is required to enforce the laws in force and that it has acted in compliance with current legislation. In any case, this case has caused an understandable sensation and many Italians are wondering if other banks can do things of this kind. At present it does not emerge that such procedures have been carried out by other banks or that there is a real possibility that others will do something of this kind.
