When I was head of government, there were more women in the cabinet than men. Now the same. I was part of a movement, when I was in opposition, which led to half of the legislators now being women. I promoted the respect that half the candidates were women, ”said the president.
Therefore, the head of the federal Executive said that he or his administration can not be described as macho and said that it is other political actors who behave with attitudes against women.
We are in favor of women, we are not macho, that is, we come from a leftist movement, even if they don’t like it, and I apologize in advance. Do you know where machismo is? Who are the macho and those who discriminate? The conservatives, ”said López Obrador.
In that sense, he added: “That is why now that all this controversy has been generated, all we ask is that everyone manifest, it is a right, it is not a concession; in addition, freedoms are conquered, they are not implored, they are not obtained on their knees, they are won by standing and walking forward ”.
The President asked, however, that the demonstrations that take place in this period in various cities of the country take place without violence.
Well, the only thing we propose is not violence, nothing more, that is the only thing, and not manipulation, not opportunism, ”said the head of the federal Executive.
Therefore, he demanded that if conservatives have a problem with their management, then they do not disguise themselves as feminists, but instead make a legitimate movement.
If they have problems with us, they don’t disguise themselves as feminists, because that is even immoral. Also, why get into a legitimate movement to grab flags because they are against us? Better that they raise their movement, that conservatives raise their movement, ”he said.
He insisted that his administration does not make gender distinctions when delivering social programs, scholarships, financial support, pensions, etc.
Green relives death penalty; he proposes it for feminicides
As a PAN legislator in the Senate did on Thursday, February 19, the PVEM parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies yesterday he proposed an initiative to apply the death penalty to criminals who commit wrongful killing and feminicide, when the victim is a minor.
At a press conference in San Lázaro, deputy Carlos Puente Salas, president of that political institute, said that the initiative arises from a citizen clamor, finding no response to the high rates of violence in the country.
He argued that the application of the death penalty seeks to inhibit aggression against minors and added that a large percentage of Mexicans ask to analyze it as a punishment.
The leader of the PVEM raised the importance of addressing this proposal through the exercise of Open Parliament with scholars, specialists and organized civil society. “Let the Legislative Power be the one who takes the last word,” he said.
The coordinator of the green bench in San Lázaro, Arturo Escobar, said that the State does not fulfill its obligation to guarantee security and protection for the population, particularly girls and boys.
