So yesterday

Good morning to all OA Sport readers, and welcome to LIVE LIVE from the second round match of the ATP 500 in Dubai between Jannik Sinner and Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

For the South Tyrolean comes the absolute debut in the famous tournament in the United Arab Emirates, which has in the roll of honor a large number of champions of three generations of tennis (and an Italian finalist in 1995, Andrea Gaudenzthe). The challenge with Bublik is unprecedented at the ATP level, and also in general in any other tennis context.

Sinner’s season, so far, has lived on success in the Melbourne 1 ATP 250, soon followed by the defeat (with all the accompanying speeches) against Denis Shapovalov in the fifth set in the first round of the Australian Open. Defeated on debut with Aljaz Body in Montpellier, he then reached the quarterfinals in Marseille, where he was eliminated by the Russian Daniil Medvedev. Only one Kazakh in his career, Mikahil Kukushkin, who at the beginning of the ATP journey defeated him in St. Petersburg in 2019.

Bublik, on the other hand, this year has allowed himself some important scalps: Matteo Berrettini in the quarterfinals of Antalya (first tournament of the year, where he reached the final), semifinal in Singapore (with a crash against the Australian Alexey Popyrin), Alexander Zverev in Rotterdam (victory then not done very well). In his career, with Italian players, he boasts a record of 8-12.

The match between Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik is scheduled as second on Court 3 after Sonego-Zapata Miralles, and therefore at least not before 11:20, but more likely for 11:30. Have fun with OA Sport LIVE LIVE!
