Wave of violence in the New York subway does not stop – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – Violence on the New York subway appears to be incessant as authorities continue to hunt down the perpetrators of several violent attacks on the transit system in recent days.

Authorities are looking for a suspect after a passenger was injured in an attack inside a 1 train in Midtown Manhattan.

On Wednesday, around 1:40 am, on the street 50th street y CV of Broadway Stationa 57-year-old man claimed to be on a northbound 1 train when he was involved in a dispute with the unknown perpetrator.

The alleged perpetrator apparently stabbed the man in the right arm and sprayed him with pepper spray before fleeing to an unknown location. The author is described as a male between 6 feet 1 inch and 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a brown jumpsuit with a pattern on the bottom.

This incident occurred a day after another attack. The alleged perpetrator then proceeded to throw the woman on the tracks. However, the young woman managed to return to the platform where she observed that the criminal took her wallet and boarded the train heading north.

However, the alleged assailant was arrested after three officers sustained minor injuries while fighting to stop him.

These latest violent acts follow a pattern of attacks, some random, on the city’s subway system. A reality that has many users of the system dismayed and worried about their safety in using the subway.

Last week, three men were injured and another died after being the victim of separate and unprovoked stabbings in New York subway stations, police said. The attacks occurred within hours, the uniformed officer added.

one of the victims was attacked as he got off a line 4 train northbound at the station East 176th Street in Viale Girolamo in the Bronx, police said. The suspect stabbed the man multiple times in the back and chest at Morris Heights station just before 9pm on Oct. 6 and fled, authorities said.

The victim was taken to San Barnabás hospital in critical condition, where she later died of her injuries.

There were also three knife incidents earlier in the day, all of which occurred along the same subway line, two at the same station. The first incident occurred around 1:30 pm on the southbound platform of the A / B / C / D in lines 125th street y Viale San Nicola in Harlem. Police said a verbal dispute between two men turned violent, with one man stabbing the other in the back.

The suspect, seen wearing blue glasses with a blue jacket and jeans, ran up the stairs to the street; the police are still looking for him. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai – St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

About an hour later, on the northbound platform of the same station, a 29-year-old man was standing with his wife when a stranger approached them and threatened the couple with a knife, according to police. The officers were still on the southbound platform after the first incident of the afternoon and moved to arrest the man.

A knife was recovered from the suspect, who was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported.

Another man was hospitalized hours later after another unprovoked attack at a Brooklyn station. Police said the attack occurred around 5.15pm on the mezzanine floor of the Line A train station Grant Avenue y Along the avenue en Cypress Hills.

The suspect approached the victim in that incident and cut his neck once, according to police. It was not known why the suspect had attacked, but soon after he fled.

The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he is expected to survive.

Investigations are ongoing into each of the violent incidents.
