Tuberculosis became the first infectious disease in Indonesia.

TB has been around for a long time and continues to infect society to this day.

TB itself is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

The Director for Prevention and Control of Direct Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Dr. Wiendra Waworuntu, M.Kes explained, said that another symptom commonly shown by TB patients is a drastic weight loss in a short time.

“This symptom can be an early sign of someone experiencing TB. Of course, laboratory diagnosis is the main thing in establishing the diagnosis,” he said while attending a virtual press conference for the Ayo TOSS TBC campaign initiated by the Ministry of Health and PT Johnson and Johnson Indonesia, Thursday (13/08 / 20).

Not only that, Wiendra also explained that it is quite easy for TB patients who are coughing to pass the bacteria to the people around them.

Especially if the person does not apply cough etiquette properly or does not wear a mask.

For Moms to know, once a TB patient coughs, he excretes more than 10,000 TB bacteria allowing 10 to 15 people direct exposure.

Therefore, the use of masks for TB patients is a mandatory thing that must be done.

Not only that, when we are taking off our masks for some reason, make sure that when coughing we do cough etiquette properly.

As we know, being ranked third with the highest cases of Tuberculosis (TBC) & Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis (TBC RO) in the world, Indonesia cannot turn a blind eye to this problem.

Indonesia is still included in the list of high burden countries for TBC & RO TBC.

Public awareness of TB is still low, including the importance of adherence to treatment as a control of disease transmission and prevention of TB.

Through the Let’s Find Tuberculosis Cure Until Healed (TOSS TBC) movement, community participation can play an active role in supporting transmission prevention, case finding, and assistance in treating TB patients.

As part of the Ayo TOSS TBC 2020 movement, the Indonesian Ministry of Health supported by PT Johnson & Johnson Indonesia initiated the TOSS TBC Virtual Run activity.

TOSS activities TBC Virtual Run is open to the public with a minimum age of 17 years. Indonesians can register to participate through the website www.ayotosstbc.com until August 16, 2020.

The running period will start to coincide with the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day on August 17, 2020 to August 31, 2020 (about 2 weeks of implementation).
