Waste mountain remains after Vindicat party: ‘Not normal’ | Inland

The grass and sand at Zilvermeerstrand have been completely destroyed. Deep ruts from tires created a huge mud puddle and the rain did the rest. Vindicat can’t do much about that, because of the heavy rain. What the association can do something about is the enormous mountain of litter that was left behind.

There is rubbish everywhere

Plastic beer glasses are strewn all over the site as far as the eye can see. In between are thousands of Flügels caps, at least as many butts and a whole load of Red Bull cans. Here and there is a couch and piles of rubbish waiting for the cleaners.

Here and there, suppliers are breaking down tents and mobile toilets are being loaded onto trucks. No one is visible from Vindicat. The workers have not yet seen a student at 11 a.m. on Monday.

‘Cleaning crew let us down’

A stark contrast to the explanation given by the Vindicat party committee. There would be hard cleaning at that time. Apparently not. And when asked why that hasn’t happened before, the statement reads: “The cleaning crew has let us down.”

No one else cares about that. The neighborhood and the seagulls. Neither does the municipality. Spokesperson Peter Steinfort: “According to the permit, everything had to be cleaned up by October 2. Obviously that didn’t happen. We will give Vindicat another two hours to do that, otherwise we will do it at their expense.”

Cleaning crew on the way

President Sanne Veken has something to say about the mess. She understands that the neighborhood is not happy with it and that all that plastic is disastrous for the birds and nature. But: “Due to a glitch with security, the cleaning crew was unable to work on Sunday. It is now on its way.”
