On Thursday, Russia called the British ambassador to the carpet to protest the country’s alleged support for a Ukrainian attack on the Russian Black Sea fleet.
Russia says Britain is training Ukrainian special forces, including in “sabotage operations at sea”, to which Ambassador Deborah Bronnert received a “strong protest”.
In an interview with News from heaven says Russian ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, that their alleged evidence has been handed over to the British ambassador.
– We know it has been done, Kelin replies, when the channel asks for so-called evidence to be presented.
He also claims that they will be published “soon enough”.
– Contributes to escalation
Russian authorities have repeatedly warned the West against arms supplies and other aid to Ukraine.
The Russian ambassador also uses the opportunity in the interview. He claims that the alleged training of Ukrainians by the British, among other things, in underwater sabotage contributes to an escalation of the situation.
– This is actually a warning that Britain is too involved in this conflict. This means that the situation is becoming more and more dangerous, she says.
The drone attack on the Russian Black Sea fleet took place on Saturday in Sevastopol, on the Crimean peninsula. Russia admitted that a ship was damaged.
The same day came allegations of British involvement. They have not been confirmed by independent sources and categorically rejected by the British authorities.
Deviation maneuver
The Kremlin also accused the British of being behind the Nord Stream sabotage in September. Evidence has not been presented here either.
– To hide its disastrous handling of the illegal invasion of Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry resorts to false claims of epic proportions. This made-up story says more about what happens in the Russian government than the West, writes the UK Ministry of Defense on Twitter.
It explains the very mention of the drone strike in Crimea as massive – and the fact that Russia quickly admitted a ship was damaged – as follows:
– On the one hand, it is good to advertise a massive attack to legitimize what they are doing themselves, and on the other hand, it will not be possible to deny it, if there are so many images of fires and explosions on social networks. So there is no other option than to blame the Ukrainians, and even the British, for making it a propaganda point.
