Russia warns countries hosting Ukrainian military aircraft.
“We know for sure that Ukrainian fighter jets have flown to Romania and other neighboring countries,” a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry said in a briefing via video link, reports the news agency AFP.
The Russian government in the Kremlin says countries that allow Ukrainians to use their runways could end up being involved in armed conflict.
Romania is a member of the Western defense alliance NATO.
According to the spokesman for the Russian defense, virtually all Ukrainian fighter jets have been destroyed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly called on Western countries to impose a no-fly zone over his country.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, for his part, has warned that such a no-fly zone would be considered a war effort by the countries that enforce it.
