EU supports membership perspective of Western Balkans at summit in Slovenia

Slovenia hosted a summit of the European Union and six countries of the Western Balkans. As a result of the summit, EU leaders adopted a final declaration in which they supported the European perspective of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Kosovo.

“The leaders reaffirmed their unconditional support for the European perspective of the Western Balkans, which is of mutual strategic interest and remains a common strategic choice,” the European Council said.

At the same time, EU leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the enlargement process, but on fair and harsh terms.
