Governor Wanda Vázquez announced this morning the suspension of work for government employees after an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 was reported in the southern area of Puerto Rico.
The measure does not include first responders.

The tremor is the strongest that has been reported since a seismic sequence began in the southern zone on December 28.
The information of the Puerto Rico Seismic Network is that the tremor was felt with an estimated maximum intensity of VIII in Guanica. The location was at latitude 17.89 and longitude 66.78.
With the event today, a tsunami warning was issued for the second time in Puerto Rico’s history. It was canceled within a few minutes.
