NEW YORK – The main indicators of the US stock exchanges closed lower on Friday, causing Wall Street ended its third week with losses from the last four.
The United States government reported that companies cut 701,000 jobs last month, the first drop in nearly a decade and the most recent in what is expected will be a series of shadowy indicators of the cost of the coronavirus for business and industry.
The S&P 500 fell 38.25 points (1.51%) at 2,488.65 points after oscillating between slight ascents and descents. The Dow Jones Industrial Index fell 360.70 units (1.68%) at 21,052.74 and the Nasdaq fell 114.23 points (1.53%) at 7,373.08.
