Walking out? We will deal with it, the King promised. But who for him?

The hockey nation is at a very difficult crossroads, untraditionally in the middle of the season. It is not often that heads fall when there are some five months left until the World Cup. But now it’s different. The Olympics will start in a few weeks, while Czech hockey can no longer be worse off.

Better now than late, you might say. However, the question is whether they will agree with this opinion on the union. Filip Pešán had a rock-solid position there at first sight. But the results clearly indicate that something needs to change.

The Czech national hockey team is experiencing one of the worst entries in the season in the entire history of our hockey. And it’s not just about that. Since the last world championship, the national team has been spreading worse and worse. The players lose their appetite, the fans turn off the television in the played matches of the national team already in the opening thirds.

There has never been such a blanket. It doesn’t matter if there is a team of young men or a seasoned elite at the Euro Hockey Tour matches who are trying to save Czech hockey. The result is still the same, our team goes to the cabins with their heads down.

The fact is that there are not many options to sweep these cobwebs from day to day. In Russia, almost the best that the Czech selection from European sources can offer was presented at the Channel One Cup. For the most part, these are probably the most players who will receive a ticket to Beijing from the union in February.

This raises the question of whether Filip Pešán should get it, under which the national team is visibly decaying, at an unprecedented pace. A slightly naive audience waited to see if the current coach of the national team would have the courage to resign. It has not happened and probably will not.

The only way is to recall Pesan from higher positions. In an interview for iDnes, the (still) president of the Czech Hockey Association, Tomáš Král, also commented on this topic:I am in contact with the members of the Executive Committee and we are discussing the reasons for the failures,“He said in a relatively brief interview with iDnes.

None of them has contacted me yet with a proposal to dismiss the coach or the implementation team. In any case, we will also deal with the situation between the holidays, and we would like to listen to the suggestions and opinions of General Manager Petr Nedvěd, among others., ”He added and concluded.

However, this currently hot topic is not only a question of whether to dismiss the current head of the inverter, but also another important follow-up question – who for him? Czech hockey does not have endless resources here either. And not at all in the season, when experienced coaches try to win their moment of fame in their clubs.

Logically, names like Vladimír Růžička, Václav Varaďa or Alois Hadamczik are offered. Although he currently has no employer, he has plenty of experience with the national team.

In recent years, however, there has been speculation that Hadamczik is not a highly respected personality among the players. The truth is that another, new generation is currently racing in the national team jerseys. In addition, it looks like Filip Pešán will not be one of the most popular coaches either.

Hockey players want to win, otherwise they will not enjoy hockey. If Pešán stays on the bench, the situation may get worse. It is difficult for a national team in Beijing under his command to win out of nowhere. Teamwork and good mood are as important in hockey as goals. Czech hockey does not have any of this at the moment.

And if we really don’t have a savior in our resources, we need time to pour clean wine. For example, in the case of neighboring Slovaks, we have already seen in the past that the journey of a foreign coach may not be the worst idea in the crisis phase.
