Walking Dead creator lawsuit postponed due to coronavirus | NOW

The co-creator of the hit series The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont, started legal proceedings against AMC channel in 2018. He claims damages of more than 246 million euros for this, because he would not have received the amount he was entitled to as a co-creator. However, the lawsuit has now been postponed due to the coronavirus, reports Deadline Monday.

After years of failing to settle the case in some sort of substantive proceedings, Darabont and AMC decided a judge in New York two years ago that the agreements between the two parties are open to multiple interpretations and that they were therefore unable to decide who is right.

Therefore, both Darabont and AMC must be brought to justice. According to the The Hollywood Reporter it is one of the greatest financial claims in Hollywood history. The co-creator of the zombie series started the case in 2013.

Darabont, also the hit movie maker The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, was fired against his will in the middle of the second season. The director and producer was at the cradle of the success of the series and at the time was received by channel AMC with all due respect. Among other things, he was promised 10 percent of the series’ net profit.

Not only is the series in its tenth season, it has also been sold to 120 countries. The series’ sales are estimated in billions. Darabont did not see a cent of this after his discharge. He was fired in the middle of the second season because he would underperform, but the director says that AMC has never been able to substantiate this decision with facts.
