A day later, on March 28, Fever Ray will perform in Tallinn, in the industrial space “Noblessneri Valukoda”. The Baltic concerts are organized by the Lithuanian music agency “8 Days A Week”.

Fever Ray is the alter ego of Karin Elizabeth Dreyer. Dreyer gained recognition more than twenty years ago as part of the duo “The Knife”, which he formed with his brother Olov. “Fever Ray” considers itself to be gender neutral and people are encouraged to use the pronoun “they” in this case.

Fever Ray are among the most active advocates of queer culture, gender equality and freedom in the music world. Moreover, it is not only manifested in expressions and manifestos, but also requires real action, for example, the first thing that greeted the visitors of the Vilnius concert hall “Compensa” four years ago were the inscriptions on the doors of the facilities: Fever Ray supports equal rights, all restrooms are trans friendly at this venue tonight” (Fever Ray supports equal rights, all facilities are gender neutral tonight).

“Fever Ray’s music has always been about self-acceptance. At their concerts, everyone has the opportunity to feel special, regardless of how strange or strange you think you are, or what sexual orientation you identify with. The mystical, as if from another world, voice that interweaves together with expertly crocheted layers of electronic sounds, envelops all present in an almost ritual-like atmosphere,” the organizers write about the concert. As usual, Fever Ray’s performance is enhanced by a gorgeous visual show and costumes.

In interviews with Fever Ray, they never talk about their personal life, because everything important is told in songs. They have been passionate about music from a very early age, they were once the vocalists of the alternative rock group “Honey is Cool”, founded the duo “The Knife” together with their brother, and sang together with Bjork. Karina’s voice is heard in several records of the famous Norwegian group “Royksopp”, many recognize her from the soundtracks of the series “Vikings” and “Breaking Bad”. They skillfully use their multi-faceted personality and interest in free self-expression, which is on the edge of avant-garde art, just like Fever Ray,” the concert organizers say.

Debuting as solo artists thirteen years ago, they created a unique style and inspired many other artists. Already in their second album “Plunge” they boldly expressed their political, personal and sexual positions. In their latest album “Radical Romantics”, they have created an unnamed character, through whose eyes we can see love from various points of view.

The new album was made together with brother Olof and members of the group “Nine Inch Nails” Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Even before the release of the album, in autumn 2022, its first singles “What They Call Us” and “Carbon Dioxide” were well received by world music critics. “The songs sound just as off-kilter as we’ve come to expect from Fever Ray: fat electronic beats topped with edgy synths,” says Spin magazine. Fever Ray themselves joke that the new records sound like falling in love.
