Wales enacts mandatory confinement for 17 days – Executive Digest

As a measure of containment of the pandemic, Wales will enact mandatory confinement for 17 days, coming into force on Friday at 6 pm, according to a government announcement, quoted this Monday by Sky News.

The new coronavirus blockade will take Wales back to the restrictions introduced in March, with most businesses closing and people being instructed to stay at home on a telecommuting basis as possible.

In announcing the decision on Monday, the government of the country said the break in the circuit would last until Monday, November 9. Prime Minister Mark Drakeford said that the introduction of a new blockade would cause a “short and sharp shock”.

“(The confinement) will have to be sharp and deep to have the impact we need,” the official told reporters. “Everyone in Wales will be forced to stay home. All non-essential deals will have to close, ”he added.

Drakeford said that without the new measures, the National Health Service will not be able to deal with the situation, causing death and “even more people”. “There are no easy options in front of us, as the virus spreads rapidly in all parts of Wales,” he said.

The official also announced a £ 300 million economic resilience fund to help businesses during the closure. Each company under the support will receive a payment of £ 1,000.

Families will not be able to get together both indoors and outdoors. Secondary schools only reopen for 7th and 8th grade students, while university students will have to continue in their university accommodation. The places of worship will be closed, except at weddings and funerals.

“There will be no meetings with people from different residences, either indoors or outdoors during this two-week period,” said Drakeford. “There will continue to be an exception for adults living alone and single parents,” he added.
