Waiting for PCR Results, Sleman Residents Tulari 30 Neighbors

Yogyakarta, CNN Indonesia

A total of 30 residents of Kendal Hamlet, Bangunkerto, Turi, Sleman stated positively exposed Covid-19. The reckless behavior of one of the patients is suspected to be the trigger for the transmission.

The Acting Head of Turi Sub-district, Subagyo, said that this series of cases was known to have started a week ago. At that time, one of the residents was indicated positive for Covid-19.

The resident then underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. The problem is, he does not self-isolate while waiting for the results of the examination and instead wanders out of the house.

“When he was waiting (for the PCR results) he didn’t talk to his neighbors, then socialized then spread to neighbors right and left to participate in activities in the village,” said Subagyo when contacted, Monday (14/6).

“According to residents, (patients) are basically participating in mutual cooperation activities in the community,” he continued.

The local Covid-19 Task Force then conducted a search and captured several residents of RT 5 in Kendal Hamlet with the status of the owner of a history of close contact with the patient. As a result, around 30 people have tested positive for the Corona virus.

“The positive patients are self-isolating,” he said.

Following up on these findings, said Subagyo, the local Covid-19 Task Force carried out mass inspections in areas suspected of being concentrations of the spread of the virus. More than 200 people in RT 5 Dusun Kendal were caught at this stage.

“Yes, while the activities of residents who have been swabbed are not allowed to go out before the results come out. At least one day or two the results will come out,” said Subagyo.

On the one hand, he regrets the attitude of residents who are not open to the surrounding community. His party also highlighted the negligence of residents in applying the discipline of health protocols (prokes) to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.

According to him, there are still many rural residents who do not understand the importance of the process in breaking the chain of spreading the Corona virus.

“Well, in the village, it’s difficult. It’s like nothing,” he concluded.
