“Wagner” opens several recruitment centers in Russian sports clubs

“Wagner” personnel selection points are arranged in eight sports clubs. On March 2, the founder of the group, Yevgenijs Prigozhins, also reported that the group has started recruitment in sports clubs. He added that he will check the physical fitness of the applicants in the club’s gymnasiums.

The Institute for the Study of War believes that Wagner is making new recruits because of barriers to recruiting prisoners.

On February 9, Prigozhin announced that “Wagner” had stopped recruiting prisoners. However, it is also reported that prisoners are now being recruited into the Russian army through the Ministry of Defence.

According to reports, at the end of February, Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Russian mercenary gang “Wagner”, called on the Russians to put pressure on the Russian army to resume supplying ammunition to “Wagner” fighters in Ukraine.

Prigozhin did not exactly call on the Russians to protest, but encouraged everyone, from the driver to the flight attendant, to help him.

“If every Russian at his level – so as not to invite anyone to rallies – simply said “give ammunition to Wagner”, as is already happening on social networks, then it would already be significant,” said Prigozhin.

“We will force them to give us ammunition,” he added.
