The reason for the loss of consciousness of blogger Alexei Navalny could be a diet for weight loss, said endocrinologist, candidate of medical sciences Yuri Poteshkin.
A version appeared on the network that Alexei Navalny was trying to lose weight and was on a diet. Allegedly, this could undermine the blogger’s health and lead to a coma due to a critically dangerous decrease in blood sugar levels – hypoglycemia.
Poteshkin answered the question in the affirmative “Komsomolskaya Pravda” about whether a person can lose creation due to starvation. “Yes, but only if a more or less healthy person has been on hunger strike for more than three days,” the expert said.
According to him, if a patient has cirrhosis of the liver, hypoglycemia, then loss of consciousness is possible with a shorter period of fasting.
A person loses consciousness if the blood glucose level falls below 2.5 mmol / L, the expert added.
Earlier on Friday, the head physician of the emergency hospital №1 Alexander Murakhovsky said that does not recommend, but also does not prohibit the transportation of Navalny to a foreign clinic, since the flight may negatively affect his condition. At the same time, Murakhovsky clarified that three laboratories did not reveal the blogger has signs of poisoning.

The Omsk hospital was told that he located in serious condition in intensive care. Transport police organized verification of information that Navalny could have been poisoned at the Tomsk airport.
