VW pays bonus: This is how much employees are receiving this year

Wolfsburg. VW has announced this year’s employee bonus. And employees should be happy about that, as it is significantly higher than in recent years.

For the past year, the VW employees at VW get 4,950 euros bonus, as can be seen from an extra sheet of the works council newspaper “Mit determination”. That is 200 euros more than in the previous year, but the targeted 5,000 mark was not broken. Only with the finance subsidiary.

VW pays a 4,950 euro bonus

The profit sharing scheme goes to the 100,000 or so employees of the Wolfsburg, Hanover, Emden, Salzgitter, Braunschweig and Kassel plants.

VW tariff bonus from 2012 to today:

  • 2020: 4,950 euros
  • 2019: 4,750 euros
  • 2018: 4,100 euros
  • 2017: 2,905 euros
  • 2016: 3,950 euros
  • 2015: 5,900 euros
  • 2014: 6,200 euros
  • 2013: 7,200 euros
  • 2012: 7,500 euros

Not unimportant to know: the sum is a gross amount. There is no classic Christmas or holiday bonus at VW. Those who work part-time receive deductions due to the shorter working hours.

As usual, the VW employees had already received an advance payment for the profit sharing with their November salary.

After deducting this gross 1690.50 euros, there remains a gross gross profit of 3259.50 euros. Volkswagen plans to pay the remaining amount with the May salary.

VW works council chief Bernd Osterloh is satisfied

This year’s bonus was negotiated by VW works council chief Bernd Osterloh and the works council chairmen at the locations with the Volkswagen Group.

Osterloh is satisfied: the bonus is a strong sign in uncertain times. “I only remember the effort required to start the new Golf, fluctuating driving styles and turbulence in production,” he said.

In the end, however, the workforce succeeded in “successfully implementing the agreed productivity increases”. Chief Human Resources Officer and Labor Director Gunnar Kilian said in the magazine that the “success year 2019” is well reflected in the bonus.

Kilian damper: “Trees don’t grow in the sky”

At the same time, however, he dampened further expectations – also in view of the upheaval in the automotive industry: “The trees do not grow up into the sky.” And: “Not only, but also because of Corona, the economy and thus Volkswagen are facing a very challenging year.”

VW boss Herbert Diess also spoke of a “strong team performance”. The employees made an important contribution to Volkswagen’s business success.

“With the tariff bonus, we thank you for your commitment and we want everyone to participate in the success of the company,” said Diess.

The bonus is even higher at the VW financial services provider Financial Services. There are 5,309 euros for full-time employees. That was over 300 euros more than last year, it said. (ck)
