Iranian-Swedish doctor Ahmadreza Djalali, who was also a guest lecturer at the VUB, is in danger of being executed quickly in Iran. According to Amnesty International, Djalali called his wife yesterday to say goodbye and has since been placed in isolation. The execution could take place within a week. Djalali was arrested on a working visit to Iran in 2016 and sentenced to death without due process on charges of espionage. Family and colleagues hope that international pressure can still save him.
