A 72-year-old woman breathed her last on the asphalt in Voula, when she was dragged by the motorcycle while trying to cross Karamanli Avenue.
As reflected in video document secured by MEGA, the woman is lying unconscious on the pavement, while her husband is a tragic figure who was only a few meters behind her.
They are the first images after the car accident on the afternoon of Maundy Thursday. People on the scene trying to help. Someone signals passing vehicles to slow down and change lanes. Others call the ambulance.
“He had hit more over the body, meaning face and hands. And parts of her body were scattered everywhere,” says an eyewitness.
A few meters away, the 27-year-old motorcyclist is fallen at a distance from his bike. The motorcycle has gone off the road and is wedged in bushes on the divider.
“The lady was down and the motorcyclist, the machine had gone into the grass. There were pieces of the machine on the road and on the pavement. It was a friend of hers who spoke to us afterwards crying and told us to be careful,” adds the eyewitness.
The 72-year-old’s husband is a tragic figure. He was only a few meters behind and saw his wife drifting away. According to testimonies, the unfortunate woman was also hit by a second car, which was passing at breakneck speed.
“The lady went to go to the park. It had no lighting, the night is scarce and the speeds are high.”
The death of the 72-year-old was instantaneous. The driver of the motorcycle, who after the hit continued his crazy course, is wanted by the police. The 27-year-old driver of the second motorcycle was taken to the police station with minor injuries and arrested.
The authorities are investigating whether the two motorcyclists were “fighting” when they hit the unfortunate woman.
