Volkswagen Group: Electric vehicle deliveries increased by 65% ​​in the first quarter

The Volkswagen Group successfully continued its global electric offensive during the first quarter, with a 65% increase in electric vehicle deliveries compared to 2021.

Despite shortages in the supply of semiconductors and wiring harnesses, 99,100 BEVs were delivered to customers by the end of March, compared to 60,000 in the first quarter of last year. The largest increase was seen in China, where 28,800 customers took delivery of a BEV manufactured by a Group brand, more than four times more than in 2021.

In the breakdown of BEV deliveries by region, Europe is still clearly in the lead, with 58,400 vehicles (59% of the total) in the first three months. In the United States, the Group delivered 7,900 BEVs to its customers, which corresponds to 8% of its global BEV deliveries. In China, 28,800 BEVs had been delivered by the end of March, more than four times more than in the first quarter of 2021. This represents 29% of the Group’s global BEV deliveries.

At the end of March, Volkswagen, the Group’s main brand, delivered 53,400 BEVs to its customers (54% of the total). Next come Audi with 24,200 vehicles (24%), Porsche with 9,500 vehicles (10%), ŠKODA with 8,800 vehicles (9%) and SEAT/CUPRA with 2,200 vehicles (2%).

– Volkswagen ID.4: 30,300 units

– Volkswagen ID.3: 13,000 units

– Audi Q4 e-tron (including Sportback): 10,700 units

– Audi e-tron (including Sportback): 10,300 units

  • Porsche Taycan (including Cross Turismo): 9,500 units
