Volkswagen Faces Delays in Production of Budget Electric Hatchback ID.2all

German automaker Volkswagen continues to develop its budget-class electric hatchback, which we’ve already seen in the form of the ID.2all concept. The starting price of the car is planned to be around 25 thousand euros, but news from Germany shows that potential buyers may have to wait longer to go to the showroom to pick up the car.

It is reported that serial production of the ID.2all could start only in mid-2026 and not next year, as it was previously expected. This is reported by the German automedia car motor and sportciting his sources.

Last year was not very successful for Volkswagen, as the manufacturer faced a drop in demand for their electric models, which led to layoffs and reduced shifts.

Thomas Schaefer, head of the Volkswagen brand, stated in the publication that the decisions taken at the moment are related to VW’s efforts to reduce various costs. Also, the manufacturer will be able to continue producing smaller cars with an internal combustion engine, such as the Polo. This is related to the new emission standards, with the European Union countries agreeing that they will be much milder than what was discussed a few years ago.
