Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken Award in Brandenburg “Stars of Sports” 2022 in silver

Sports offers for the whole family – this is what the FSV Groß Kreutz is about after the complete renovation that began five years ago. The long-standing football team has become an association with sports offers geared to local needs and wishes. And this deserves praise, honor and recognition on the big stage: Brandenburg Secretary of State for Sport Steffen Freiberg, Norbert Schmitz, Chairman of the Board of the VR-Bank Fläming-Elsterland as a representative of the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken in Brandenburg and Karl-Heinz Hegenbart, Vice President of the Brandenburg State Sports Association, congratulated and presented the award to the club, led by President Thomas Radant, who on Tuesday 11 October jointly awarded the 2022 Silver “Big Star of Sports” to the State Chancellery of Potsdam.

This prize is endowed with 2,500 euros and was awarded by a jury of first-rate experts. At the award ceremony among the six finalists, the USV Potsdam boxing club and the SV Cottbuser Krebse e. V. look forward to. The three Borgheider clubs SV 90, IMAFF – TAIKUNEDO AKADEMIE and SV Blau-Weiss Lubolz 1930 received sponsorship prizes and prize pools of 500 euros each.

Brandenburg Secretary of State for Sport Steffen Freiberg: “Huge congratulations to this year’s ‘Stars of Sport’ in Groß Kreutz, Potsdam and Cottbus. Hundreds of sports fans and volunteers have contributed to this great success and I am very grateful for that. Sports clubs do incredible things: they guarantee well-being and health, they are present for young and old, young and old and are an attraction in their regions. This is invaluable ”.

Karl-Heinz Hegenbart, Vice President for Mass Sports and Sports Development at the Brandenburg State Sports Association, stressed: “Especially in the recent past, all of our clubs have done much more than offer the people of Brandenburg the opportunities to practice their sport. They gave them a place of familiarity, safety, a kind of home at a time when many things were no longer as we all knew them. In this sense, in fact, they all deserve an award. clubs now selected by the jury have once again accepted their social responsibility with passion and creativity and, with their exceptional commitment and their projects, have made society, sport and our state of Brandenburg even more liveable and lovable. Thank you very much and congratulations to all the winners ”.

About the project: FSV Groß Kreutz has reinvented itself over the past five years: the long-standing football team has become a club with sports activities for the whole family. A success story that not even the corona pandemic could stop. “Sports club in transition – from troubled savings company to sport for the whole family – strong growth in members despite the Corona”, summed up the FSV for its question. During its reconstruction he always focused on the wishes and needs on the construction site. Since 2018, eight new departments have been created in addition to football: Children’s sports, women’s fitness, ball school (from 1st to 3rd grade), street dance, fit from 40, health sports over 60, beach volleyball and running. The FSV was rewarded with many new members, volunteers and cooperation partners. The new impetus infected the entire community and strengthened cohesion.

The “Sports Stars” are an initiative of the German Olympic Sports Association and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken. They honor sports clubs and their many volunteers for their social commitment. With their offers they encourage children and young people, help protect their health, support families or serve to improve coexistence. These are great achievements that unfortunately still receive too little public recognition. The “Stars of Sport” honor them. All nominees for the “Stars of Sport” silver are winners of the “Big Star of Sport” bronze and have therefore qualified for the state-level competition by winning locally.
