Visitor of deadly Houston concert sues rapper Travis Scott

Concert-goer Manuel Souza says through his lawyer that the disaster was the result of a desire to make a profit “at the expense of the health and safety of concert-goers.” That writes the American magazine Billboard.

Ignoring risks

The lawyer also writes that the organizers failed to plan and organize the concert safely. “Instead, they deliberately ignored the extreme risks of harm to concertgoers. In some cases, they even encouraged dangerous behavior.”

The tragedy would have been “predictable and avoidable”, according to the lawyer. Souza claims compensation of 1 million dollars (more than 865.00 euros) for gross negligence.

Many lawsuits expected

The case is the first of many lawsuits expected to be filed about the drama. Rapper Travis Scott says he didn’t realize that his concert in Houston was getting completely out of hand.

The rapper has already said that he will help the authorities to find out how things went wrong. A criminal investigation has also been launched, the Houston police said last night. That was done because of reports that someone in the audience had injected people with drugs.

Chaos and panic

Panic arose in front of the festival stage last week and several visitors fainted. Chaos also reigned at the entrance and at the fences. On social media, countless visitors shared messages all day that the situation was unsafe, but that nothing was being done about it.

Videos showed how festival-goers ask security guards to intervene, but are ignored. About 50,000 visitors attended the festival.
