As stated by Wirtualna Polska, PiS president Jarosław Kaczyński on Sunday evening, when preliminary survey results were announced, he appeared at Jasna Góra in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Częstochowa. The information was confirmed by the spokesperson of Jasna Góra, Father Michał Legan
– It was a private visit of President Jarosław Kaczyński, previously unplanned. The PiS president, several times a year, comes to Jasna Góra without notice to pray in the evening. As a rule, he appears at the Jasna Góra Appeal at 9pm – says Father Michał Legan, spokesman for Jasna Góra, in Virtual Poland. It was like that and Sunday. When Andrzej Duda’s victory in the first round was announced, Kaczyński prayed at the Sanctuary.
For many observers, his absence could have been a surprise – after all, he was expected to be in the front row when announcing exit poll results – because he is a PiS leader. However, not for the associates of the president and staff members who “knew the subject from within”.
