Virgin Galactic postpones scheduled flights for space tourists

The company will have to conduct another test flight

Virgin Galactic has announced that it is postponing regular flights with space tourists for the fourth quarter of 2022, and there will be no scheduled test flights this year, Reuters reported.

Following the announcement, the company’s shares fell 13 percent.

On September 2, the US Federal Aviation Administration banned Virgin Galactic flights with the SpaceShipTwo until the completion of a report on its flight to a height of 80 km, in which Richard Branson also participated in July.

Then the device deviated from the planned trajectory during the descent. On September 29, the investigation was completed and the ban was lifted. Virgin Galactic then announced that it was planning a new flight with Unity 23 in mid-October at the earliest.

The company already plans to first make improvements and the test flight to be after them, and then to start regular flights with tourists.
