Viral Queue of Athlete’s Home Patients, What’s the Real Condition Like?

Jakarta

Viral on social media the condition of the COVID-19 Emergency Hospital (RSDC) Wisma Atlet Kemayoran which was full of patients. One of these news was shared by Dr. Tompi on his personal Twitter account.

“Got IGD video distribution Athlete’s House last night…very worrying,” wrote Dr. Tompi.

Regarding the condition of the queue at Wisma Atlet, detik.com interviewed S, a patient who recently went into isolation at the site. He entered through the ER when the queue of patients was also busy.

Told by S, he initially began to feel symptoms and decided on a PCR test on June 9. Two days later, the PCR results showed he was positive for COVID-19.

When diagnosed positive for Corona, S experienced several symptoms ranging from fever, cough, anosmia, to shortness of breath. The conditions in which he lived were not possible, so he asked to be referred to the Wisma Atlet RSDC.

The process to get a treatment room was not easy. The health center did not give any news, while the complaints of shortness of breath were getting worse. After trying various ways, S was finally able to leave for Wisma Atlet around 10 pm on Friday, June 11 and had to wait a long time before being able to get a room.

“It’s very crowded, where’s the queue again,” said S.

It took quite a while before S got a treatment room at the Wisma Atlet ER. While waiting, the officers carried out a number of examinations, including taking blood samples. S finally got a treatment room at 2am the next day.

While there, S routinely checked blood pressure and saturation because of the shortness of breath he was experiencing. Until now he still complains of symptoms that make him have to be checked more regularly by the doctor.

DKI Jakarta COVID-19 emergency

DKI Jakarta is said to be in a critical condition of the COVID-19 pandemic. To anticipate the spike in cases, Wisma Atlet has added a capacity of 2 thousand beds.

“We have prepared an additional 2,000 beds and they can be used as soon as possible,” said the Coordinator of the Wisma Athlete Hospital, Maj. Gen. Ratmono, in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (14/6/2021).

The occupancy rate at Wisma Atlet also reached 80.68 percent, up quite high compared to the previous week.

As explained by DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, in the last 1 week there has been an increase of 50 percent. According to him, this condition can make DKI Jakarta enter a critical phase if it does not immediately take drastic steps.
