Vini Mini Raises 500,000 Euros to Fight Food Allergies in Children

1. Vini Mini fights food allergies with fresh money

Jozien Boersma and Laurie Lancee raised 500,000 euros for Vini Mini, the startup that helps prevent food allergies in children. The German seed fund APX and Rabobank were already on board, but business angels and the Donor Impact Investment Fund are also involved in this round. Vini Mini also received a hundred thousand euros from Antler a few months ago. It sells peanut and tree nut “starter kits” and snacks that help babies get used to such foods. With the money, the former Startup of the Week wants to expand distribution to new markets and hire employees in sales and marketing.

2. Manufy makes a fresh start with a new model

Sustainable fashion platform Manufy is making a new start thanks to ‘an initial investment by committed investors’. Under director Nout Knabben, Manufy does make a pivot, he leaves in one press release know: the focus previously was on linking clothing brands to more sustainable producers, but from now on his company will also provide advice and services to make brands more sustainable, from sourcing to recycling, resale and sustainability reporting.

3. ‘Women investor’ Joanna Invests is growing thanks to package deals

Claire Tange has with Joanna Invests, the platform for women who want to invest in female entrepreneurs, has raised half a million euros in 3 months of the 5 million she has invested in. The driving force behind the success is the ‘package deal’ that allows investors to invest from 10K while their investment is spread over at least 5 startups with various teams. Joanna Invests now has well-known names such as We Are Eves, Quan, Peekabond, Ozarka and tex.tracer in its portfolio.

4. Number of female self-employed people doubled in 10 years

The number of self-employed people without employees (zzp) increased by 85 percent between 2014 and 2024, to just over 1.6 million. According to KVK the number of female self-employed people has grown a lot faster: at 101 percent, it has more than doubled. At 61 percent, the share of men remains larger than the share of women among the self-employed. Among ‘real’ SME entrepreneurs, 67 percent are men. The significant increase in the number of self-employed people is partly due to the corona period.

5. Blokker’s rescuer received 600 million

Michiel Witteveen received a much larger dowry from the Blokker family when it took over the retail company of the same name than previously assumed, reports RTL Z. He received 600 million, not 250 million euros, five years ago to make the retail chain healthy again with his Mirage Retail Group. Most of that capital consisted of debts to the family that were canceled. Nevertheless, Blokker has not yet resolved the leak. In order to continue Mirage Retail Group, CEO Ynse Stapert and owner Witteveen are currently looking for fresh capital again.

6. And then this: ‘Smooth’ takeover of Dwarfs, but under pressure

Demian Beenakker appears to have sold Dwarfs, the buyer of web shops, to the British Olsam under slightly greater pressure than he pretended to MT/Sprout at the end of December. Dwarfs had a substantial loan outstanding with North Wall Capital and no longer met the credit conditions in 2023, according to the most recent annual report (PDF). It explains how the problem was resolved: ‘North Wall Capital has informed us a way to redeem the breach, by merging with another portfolio company Olsam Group Ltd.’ And this happened. It does give Beenakker’s explanation a slightly different meaning: ‘The takeover actually went quite smoothly: all parties involved saw the usefulness of the combination.’
