The City of Villeurbanne and the Metropolis are organizing this urban walk to discuss with the inhabitants of the district on the elements of the program, before appointing the developer of the ZAC.
The City of Villeurbanne and the Métropole de Lyon will organize 3 urban walks over the next few weeks to discuss the elements of the program with the inhabitants of the district, before appointing the developer of the ZAC.
The future T9 tram line, which will link La Soie to La Doua or Charpennes, will pass through Saint-Jean by 2026. In connection with this new transport offer, the two communities are relaunching a project to transform the Saint-Jean district into coming years.
The program of the Villeurbanne Saint-Jean project includes the creation of 1,900 housing units, the construction of a school and a nursery, the installation of shops and craft and tertiary premises, but also the improvement of traffic routes, and the development of new streets, and that of the banks of the canal into a park. At the same time, Est Métropole Habitat is planning work on the current buildings.
A project to coordinate
A concerted development zone (ZAC) has been created by the Metropolis, which wishes to entrust its implementation to a developer. But before appointing this developer, the elected officials of the City of Villeurbanne and the Metropolis of Lyon wish to dialogue with the inhabitants of the district on the elements of the program.
Since 2019, the citizens ‘council and the neighborhood council have been reporting residents’ comments on sports facilities, green spaces, housing density, expected public services … To detail these questions, other discussions will be organized by the City and Metropolis in the coming weeks.
As public meetings or workshops are not currently possible due to the health crisis, the discussion on the project remains open by other means and is committed for the years to come.
Urban stroll
The local authorities therefore offer to support the services of the Metropolis of Lyon and the city of Villeurbanne in the district, for a visit to the key sectors of the project. The objective is to discuss the planned developments: playground, new streets, banks, new constructions, future tram station … But also to discuss travel and parking habits.
Three dates are planned: Saturday March 20 at 2 p.m., Tuesday March 23 at 9 a.m. and Sunday March 28 at 10 a.m. Registration is required by email at [email protected] or at the Maison des services publics, at 30 rue Saint-Jean (tel. 04 78 80 29 82).
Other means of contribution
It is also possible to contribute online, by submitting ideas, reactions or proposals for the project on jeparticipe.grandlyon.com
It is also possible to join the Citizen Council of Saint-Jean, which was created on October 9, 2018. It is a participation body for the inhabitants and local structures of the district (Animation center, Association of traders, Le Booster , Chalets du Mens, JSV Musculation, Rhône Sportif …). Its area of action is the entire Saint-Jean sector between the Canal and Vaulx-en-Velin. The objective is to allow residents to discuss, question, propose, evaluate all projects and aspects of neighborhood life: urban project, developments, work on housing, quality of life, road safety, cultural activities, social life, transport, green spaces … (To join and join the Citizen Council: [email protected])
