Vietnam’s fate in the U-16 AFF Cup is still hanging, the Milky Way: Change!

Jakarta

Vietnam still have to wait for the results from Group C in order to advance to the semifinals AFF U-16 Cup. Indonesia U-16 National Team Coach, Milky Waya little satirical Vietnam.

Indonesia faces Vietnam in the third matchday of Group A of the U-16 AFF Cup. In the duel that took place at the Maguwoharjo Stadium, Sleman, Yogyakarta, Saturday (6/8/2022) night WIB, the Bima Sakti team won 2-1.

The Indonesian goal was conceded first through the execution of a penalty by Nguyen Cong Phuong. In the first half, Indonesia lost 0-1.

In the second half, Indonesia could retaliate. Goals from Arkhan Kaka Putra Purwanto and Nabil Asyura ensured the hosts came back and won 2-1.

The victory made Indonesia come out as champion of Group A of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup with 9 points, an unbeaten result in three matches. Vietnam had to settle for being runner-up with 6 points.

Vietnam’s current status is waiting to be the best runner-up. They are still in the top spot with six points in the runners-up standings, ahead of Thailand and Myanmar.

“My message is don’t burn flares again because we are the ones who lose, even though we know how it was on social media, yesterday as well, Vietnam may be annoying. But we must still respect,” said Bima Sakti after the match.

“I teach the players to have respect even though there were our players who were sick, they (Vietnam) did not throw the ball away. If we continue to throw the ball in any team condition and the coach teaches that to the players.”

The Milky Way’s statement alluded to last month’s AFF U-19 group stage match. At that time, Indonesia was eliminated after Vietnam and Thailand drew 1-1 because there were indications of playing it safe.

“Last month something unexpected happened, how Thailand and Vietnam played. Now, it’s their turn, those who are waiting for tomorrow’s results in Group C,” Bima Sakti emphasized.

The runner-up position in Group B will not affect Vietnam because Thailand and Timor Leste face each other in the last match. So far, Thailand and Timor Leste are both four points and any result still puts Vietnam on top.

The threat of Vietnam is in Group C because Malaysia and Myanmar both have four points and did not face each other in the last match. Malaysia will collect 7 points if they can beat Australia and Myanmar will also match if they beat Cambodia.

This means, if Malaysia and Myanmar complete the group stage journey with seven points, Vietnam will return home. Phan Thanh Duc Thien et al. now have to hope that at least one of the matches in Group C ends in a draw.
