Vienna is extending free tests to all holiday returners

As of now, returnees from the Balearic Islands and from all non-risk countries and Austrian federal states can have themselves tested free of charge at the stadium.

The test road originally built on Sunday for those returning from Croatia at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna will remain in place and will be expanded to other target groups. All people who are returning from the Balearic Islands, but also people from non-risk countries and other federal states, can now test themselves for the virus free of charge, the city announced on Friday by broadcast.

“Vienna reacted quickly and efficiently by expanding the test offer at the Ernst Happel Stadium. The great demand and the uncomplicated processing have encouraged us to expand this offer,” emphasized Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ): “The Viennese, Those who return from a trip often do not know that they are infected. We want to give them the opportunity to take on responsibility and to have certainty quickly and easily. “

“The figures clearly show that people returning from a trip are playing an increasingly important role in new infections in Vienna – just like in the whole of Austria. In Vienna we want to take a closer look and will extend our free test offer and expand the target groups,” said Health Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ) in the broadcast.

Also non-risk countries and federal states

All people with their main place of residence in Vienna who have returned from the Balearic Islands between August 14th, midnight and August 23rd inclusive can be tested. For this group the offer is valid up to and including August 28th. For those returnees who come back from the Balearic Islands after August 24, the federal entry regulations apply.

In addition, all those Viennese who have returned from non-risk countries since August 14th will also be tested free of charge at the stadium. According to the definition of the federal government, these are Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, San Marino, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Vatican, United Kingdom and Cyprus.

In addition, people who have spent at least four days (also from August 14th) in another Austrian federal state can come to the test center. The offer is not limited in time for these two groups. For those returning from Croatia, the option of free testing will expire today, Friday, as announced. This day was originally planned as the closing day for the stadium test center.

According to the broadcast, 3948 people have used the free reports so far. 3614 results have already been evaluated, 68 of which were positive. The test station at the Ernst Happel Stadium is still open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. You have to bring a photo ID, the e-card and the registration form.
