VIDEO. When Santa Claus has fun sharing the daily life of the Allier firefighters

A Father Christmas who climbs the rope, who goes on a mission by boat, who drives a van… here are some scenes taken from a video full of humor posted at the end of December by the firefighters of Montluçon, in the Allier. The video is talking about her and it is the goal sought by the firefighters who are not at their first attempt.

Some 12,000 views in less than 24 hours. The video posted at the end of December on social networks by the Amicale des sapeurs-pompiers de Montluçon, in the Allier, goes viral. In this video, we can discover a Santa Claus who provides a day on duty with the Montluçonnais firefighters.

We can thus see the old man training in the barracks, being behind the wheel of a van, abseiling, being on a boat with the divers or even being able to handle the famous ladder of the firefighters. “ The small upgrade As the firefighters say is not easy. The bearded man dressed in red program is full.

Corporal Sébastien Chopin, vice-president of the Amicale des sapeurs-pompiers de Montluçon, explains how this video was born: “ Last year, we made a first video for christmas. The goal was to publicize our Facebook page and because due to the confinement, we could not come and sell our calendars. We wanted to make a little video to be seen and so that people have the possibility of ordering the calendars online to keep our association alive. Last year we had over 35,000 views and people were happy and amused. We thought we were going to put on a little diaper this year ».

This funny video is also there to instill vocations in the youngest: “ We did this for fun and for people to see a facet of our profession. We showed different specialties, such as divers or intervention in perilous environment. We also wanted to arouse vocations among a voluntary public. We know that on social networks the target is quite young. At present, all the SDIS and associations are present on social networks to try to attract young people ».

According to Corporal Sébastien Chopin, the scenario was quite simple to conceive: “ It was built around a coffee. We left on the same basis as last year where we showed that Santa Claus was confined and that he went to the barracks to prepare physically. This year, we decided to take him to the next level and have him take custody with us. There is a barracks part where we see him playing sports and a more operational part where he touches all vehicles and all interventions. We see him driving, being with the ladder, intervening in a perilous environment, on the boat ».

The video was made very quickly. The filming of the images took place on Saturday, December 18: ” Master Corporal Léonard Thabarant is a volunteer firefighter from Montluçon but also a communications expert with the SDIS. He is qualified to fly drones and has a lot of personal equipment because he is passionate about images. He was the one who did the shooting and the editing “. This shoot was a nice interlude in a not always easy daily life for the firefighters. Corporal Sébastien Chopin emphasizes: “ It’s not every day that we take the boat to the level of the Sault pond and put it in the water. We had the agreement of our hierarchy to do so. We had mobilized personnel on guard and personnel off guard to be able to ensure the operational part. We are quite fond of humorous touches in our profession because we do not necessarily laugh every day on the interventions. This video allows us to relax a bit. We said to ourselves that it would be a faithful reflection and that it would be eye-catching ».

He welcomed the final result: “ We posted the video on Monday around 4:30 p.m. In less than 24 hours, we are already at 12,000 views. If it can create vocations, it will be of added value for our SDIS. If the video works throughout France, it would be great to reach a large audience and make our passion known. It is above all a profession of passion “. This video is very well received by the public but also by professionals: “ Within the firefighters, there is very good feedback because they have adhered to the image we wanted to convey. They found each other well in the video. This allows them to show their family their daily life on guard because the family does not necessarily have access to the rescue center. Sometimes you have to sacrifice your family life to be available in the barracks. For the public, we measure our popularity and we see that there is still a certain esteem for firefighters. Video is shared and people are giving nice comments ».

At the end of the video, we can read the following message: ” During the holidays, count on Santa Claus for gifts. We take care of you. Have a good holiday “. The firefighters thus wanted to recall the importance of their work: ” It is a period when the whole of the population gets together as a family. For our part, we sacrifice our family moments to ensure our public service mission. “. At the Montluçon barracks, there are 60 professionals and 60 volunteers. They should probably think about a next humorous video to be talked about again next year.
