We have known it for several seasons, the scrum half of Castres, Rory Kockott, has a sulphurous reputation with referees and opposing supporters. The character has a little side annoying and don’t hesitate to play with the rule, to room discreetly or to comment on the matches in his own way.
Attitudes which generally annoy men with the whistle quite quickly. But this weekend, the French international (34 years old; 11 caps) stood out, a little without his knowledge, on the lawn of Pierre-Fabre.
Percussion by Raynal, forward… melee for Montpellier
After barely two minutes of playing this shock for the maintenance between Castres and Montpellier, Rory Kockott, captain for a day in the absence of the third line Mathieu Babillot left on the bench, tries to quickly play a penalty in hand to pack the start of his team’s meeting. Except that wanting to play too fast at the precise place where the penalty was whistled, the number 9 Tarn is filled with the referee of the match, Mathieu Raynal. At least we can’t blame him for not having played this penalty in the right place.
Remember, however, that he was not obliged to play it precisely at the foot of the referee, but on the same line and in his camp, as required by the rules. You will also notice that the Catalan Mathieu Raynal, former junior from Perpignan and former teacher of physical education and sports, is firmly planted on his supports and does not move a fart on the involuntary percussion by Kockott. However, he will not take into account the apologies presented by the Castres scrum half and will order a scrum in favor of Montpellier, for a forward committed by the OC player.
“How’s the offside line?” the last foot? “
But the show Kockott, against Montpellier, did not stop there. Before being replaced at the hour of play by the youngster Jeremy Fernandez, Rory was, as always, untenable. He complained of a jersey pulling, then of preferential treatment for Montpellier in the rucks: “We did nothing, and they will do it all the match”, before a last unusual sequence where he asks Mathieu Raynal the offside rules: “How’s the offside line?” The last foot? », Except that he is not fooled.
In short, you will understand that even if Rory Kockott still does not know what his sporting future will be like next season, since he is at the end of his contract in June at Castres and has still not come to an agreement with the Tarn club, nothing will ever affect his legendary ardor and temperament.
