The San Antonio Spurs sank further during the night from Friday to Saturday, suffering their 16th consecutive defeat against the Chicago Bulls (121-112). Last in the Western Conference (3 wins – 18 losses), the Spurs were in the lead at half-time but let the match slip away again in the third quarter. French prodigy Victor Wembanyama (19 years old) had a solid game (21 points, 20 rebounds, 4 blocks) but remained clumsy shooting (8 out of 20).
With this performance, for only his 20th game in the NBA, the giant (2.24 m) became the youngest player to achieve a “double” double-double with more than 20 points and 20 rebounds, surpassing the performance of Dwight Howard in 2005 (which was closer to his 20th birthday).
“Everything is going well in my life, that’s the only downside for the moment. Of course it’s hard, I feel the difficulty, but I never feel discouraged, there is no other choice”commented the Frenchman about the sad series.
The Spurs had already lost 16 matches in a row last season and finished last in the west in the spring (22 wins – 60 losses), a poor record which allowed them to obtain the first draft choice and therefore to choose Wembanyama in June.
San Antonio travels to Houston on Monday, a team against whom they obtained their first success of the season at the end of October.

Title holders, the Denver Nuggets lost at home to Houston Rockets (114-106). Nikola Jokic was contained (23 points, 16 rebounds) against his young opponent Alperen Sengun (17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists), presented at 21 as a clone of the Serbian pivot.

Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors were beaten again after a close match, this time in Oklahoma City after overtime (138-136). With 34 points including 10 in overtime, Curry had to lose to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 38 points.
