Hosam Ashour, Al-Ahly’s midfielder, thanked Turki Al-Sheikh, the former honorary president of the club and head of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, for the efforts he made for him during the last period.
“I thank Chancellor Turki Al-Sheikh, honorary president of Al-Ahly Club, for his efforts with me throughout the last period,” Ashour said, in a video posted on social media Friday morning.
He added: “Abu Nasser has come a long way with me. This man loves Al Ahly very much and appreciates the club and its fans well, and he wants to offer everything for the club.”
He concluded: “I approached the Sheikh family during the last period, and no one disagrees with him, as he is a respectable person, and he desires to serve Al-Ahly in any way the club loves.”
Al-Ahly had previously decided not to renew his contract with Hossam Ashour, which will end at the end of the current season, to make this season the last for the 34-year-old captain.

This comes at a time when Turki Al-Sheikh sent a mysterious message through his official account on Facebook in the early hours of Friday morning.
Al-Sheikh wrote: “If the decision is in the hands of an administration that does not want the club’s interest, and they will delay any need that is in the interest of the club, and I have patience with them a lot, but it is clear that they will not change anything.”
