The video game studio Ubisoft wants to investigate allegations of rape and sexual violence. The French company announced today that there would be an internal investigation.
The allegations are directed against leading male employees of Ubisoft in Canada, the USA and Bulgaria, among others. A drunken Ubisoft creative director in Toronto is said to have choked an employee on a “Far Cry” evening. Other women report sexual harassment and complain about the male-dominated work environment at the video game maker.
“We’re honestly sorry,” the company wrote. The goal of ensuring equality and security in the company has apparently not been achieved. Ubisoft announced personnel consequences if the allegations were confirmed. In the past few days, an employee had already quit after allegations were made about him.
