A video of a shootout between policemen and poachers in Buryatia has been published on the Internet. A video of the detention of illegal jade miners, which took place at the end of July, was shown by the Izvestia publication.
The video was filmed by one of the security forces using a camera attached to his body. The recording shows the moment of the shooting, in which the poachers began to throw stones towards the police. The security forces retreated, but then opened fire and ordered the criminals to lie down on the ground. The poachers were in no hurry to comply with the demand of the police and even showered them with insults, including the words: “Go to Ukraine, shoot there.”
In early August, as a result of a raid by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, 30 local residents aged 17 to 42 were detained. More than 80 kilograms of illegally mined jade were seized from them. The detainees stated that they mistook the police officers for “bandits” and therefore resisted. As a result of the shootout, one person was wounded in the thigh, and the other – a head injury from a stone hit.
