Spain secured the gold medal in handball at the Mediterranean Games on Wednesday, beating Egypt in the final by 28-27.
One of the figures at the meeting was Sergey Hernández, Benfica’s goalkeeper – who was elected the MVP of the final-four of the European League conquered by the eagles -, by defending a seven-meter free-kick in the last seconds, which prevented the Egyptians from equalizing.
In addition to Hernández, Josep Folques, Sporting’s left winger, is also part of the team that won these Mediterranean Games.
