In connection with the lighting, the program received a question from a viewer about the holiday decorations in Grīziņkalni – how has the decoration of the holiday in the capital changed and why are there completely different decorations in Grīziņkalni than last year?

If in previous years, the alleys of Grīzņkalns Park were decorated with white, beautiful stars, which were much more visible and gorgeous, then this year completely different ones have appeared – blue decorations in small numbers, only above the children’s playground.

Solvita Brence, project coordinator of the External Communication Department of the Riga City Council, explains that the decorations are not tied to any specific place or neighborhood and a new project is developed every year, and this year there were 26 such projects, and therefore the decorations – both color, type and quantity – can change.

In Riga, these warm tones are gradually being introduced in the festive design from the center to the neighborhoods, and taking into account the available budget, both blue and red decorations have remained in some places, but they will be replaced in the coming years.
