Vice President Harris Close to Bomb During Capitol Storm

The bomb was defused and caused no damage, but Harris, then vice president-elect at the time, was not known to be this close to the explosive device.

Search for suspect

A suspicious package was found not only at the DNC, but also at the Republican National Committee (RNC) the day the Capitol was stormed by supporters of then-President Donald Trump.

The FBI has been looking for a suspect who may have planted the bombs for a year. There are video images of him, which have recently been redistributed. The explosives were believed to have been placed the night before the Capitol storming.

The headquarters of both party committees are not far from the US parliament. If the bombs had exploded, it could have caused “deaths”, according to the FBI.

Life in danger

Politico writes that the revelations show that “the January 6 riots could have been much more destructive than they already were” because the life of the incoming vice president was in imminent danger. Harris was evacuated from the building seven minutes after the pipe bomb was found.

The Secret Service, which is responsible for the vice president’s security, declined to comment on the incident.
